Common installation issues

Below are some common issues that occur during (and after) installations and suggestions to assist you in finding the problems.

Install tracker exactly as the fitting guide specifies, if you do not have an installation guide please visit our website here to view/download them. Before you call please do the following:

  1. Confirm tracker has power with lights on the device, if no lights see ‘No lights on Trackers’

  2. Let the vehicle run for 5-10 minutes minimum

  3. Confirm tracker installation is EXACTLY as per install guide

  4. Once above steps completed please call 1300 110 248

No lights on the tracker

Check red wire. Red wire should be connected to the asset battery. For plant tracker, the PWR light will light up when power is connected. Other trackers will have a green and Orange light that will start to flash. Is the tracker wet? Open? Obviously damaged? Is the sticker on the plant in good condition?

Plant tracker no input 0

Input 0 is the signal that ignition is on. If you are not receiving an input 0 light, then please check the white wire for signal and secure connection. Please also check the grey wire is connected securely to Chassis earth (not Battery). WHITE WIRE MUST BE CONNECTED TO ALTERNATOR

Flashing orange Light

The orange light represents our communication to the tracker. If the orange light is flashing slowly, it is not trying to connect to a mobile network. If flashing fast, it is trying to connect. If it is solid on, it is connected and we have communications with the tracker. If lights are flashing, try putting tracker in an open area and see if it flashes fast or becomes solid on. If light doesn’t go solid on, please call 1300 110 248 for further testing.

Flashing Green Light

The Green light represents the connection to GPS satellites. If the green light is flashing slowly, it is not trying to connect to a GPS satellite. If flashing fast, it is trying to connect. If it is solid on, it is connected and we have GPS connection. If lights are flashing, try putting tracker in an open area and see if it flashes fast or becomes solid on. If light doesn’t go solid on, please call 1300 110 248 for further testing.

Asset showing as on when isolated

If the asset shows ignition on while the machine is isolate, you will need to check your chassis earth wire. This is the grey wire. When the Chassis earth is not connected correctly, connected to the wrong point or a loose connection, this will cause a signal to be sent up the white wire when the asset is isolated. This signal tell the tracker the ignition is on even though it is not.

Incorrect location showing in Fleet Track

First confirm the correct tracker number has been given if fitting multiple devices. Check the date of the last transmitted data. You can find that under the tracking tab in FleetAdmin. On this page you can also see how many satellites the tracker is connected to and also if it is currently connected to GPS.  This issue is usually caused by loss of GPS. Where is the tracker mounted? Recommendations would be to relocate the tracker to a more open spot on the asset. You can check the GPS connection by putting the tracker in an open space and checking for the green light to go solid. Or for the location to update in Fleet Track.

Hours Incorrect (Above actual)

Please check the white wire is connected to the alternator and secure. Check signal is at the plug on the white wire while ignition is on. Check signal on white wire while ignition is off. Isolate the machine and check signal on white wire. There should be no signal while isolated. If there is, please check the chassis earth for the tracker. This is the grey wire. Match the circuit with the Hour meter, not Accessories.

KM’s incorrect

The km’s can record incorrect due to the 10% tolerance allowed by manufacturers when the odometer is built. While highly accurate, the GPS takes location points every 30 secs and at every turn of 30 degrees though there is a possibility that it might not record a few meters or depending on GPS strength may not be able to record some distances. You can check the GPS signal strength in FleetAdmin/tracking details tab.

Hours incorrect (Below actual)

Please check the white wire is connected to the alternator and secure. Check signal is at the plug on the white wire while ignition is on. Check signal on white wire while ignition is off.
